มหาวิทยาลัยฟาร์อีสเทอร์นเป็นสถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชน ในสังกัดส านักงานคณะกรรมการการอุดมศึกษา (ทบวงมหาวิทยาลัย) จัดตั้งขึ้นในชื่อ " วิทยาลัยฟาร์อีสเทอร์น" เมื่อวันที่ 27 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2542 และได้สถาปนาสถาบันขึ้น เมื่อวันที่ 4 กุมภาพันธ์ พ .ศ. 2543 โดยได้รับพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าโปรดกระหม่อมจาก สมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอเจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา กรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ เสด็จเป็นองค์ ประธานเปิดสถาบันอย่างเป็นทางการ เมื่อวันที่ 13 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ.2544 ด้วยความมุ่งมั่นพัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษาอย่างต่อเนื่อง เมื่อวันที่ 20 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2549 จึงได้รับอนุญาตเปลี่ยนสถานภาพเป็น มหาวิทยาลัยฟาร์อีสเทอร์น หรือ The Far Eastern University และได้จัดพิธีสถาปนาเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยขึ้นในวันที่ 8 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2549

มหาวิทยาลัยฟาร์อีสเทอร์น จัดตั้งขึ้นเพื่อตอบสนองนโยบายของรัฐบาล ที่ต้องการให้คนไทยมีการศึกษาในระดับที่สูงขึ้น มีความรู้ความสามารถในระดับที่สามารถแข่งขันทัดเทียมกับประเทศต่าง ๆ ในยุคโลกาภิ วัฒน์ ก้าวทันเทคโนโลยีที่พัฒนาขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว และมีความเป็นสากล โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง การมุ่งให้การศึกษาที่ก้าวทันต่อความก้าวหน้าเชิงธุรกิจ ประกอบด้วยความรู้ทางการบริหารจัดการและเทคโนโลยี มหาวิทยาลัยฟาร์อีสเทอร์นจึงมีปณิธานและมุ่งมั่นที่จะเป็นสถาบันอุดมศึกษา ส าหรับชนในสหัสวรรษใหม่ที่เตรียมบัณฑิตให้มีความเพียบพร้อมในการด ารงชีวิต การท างาน มีจิตส านึกแห่งความเป็นผู้ประกอบการ โดยอยู่บนพื้นฐานของคุณธรรม จริยธรรมและจิตส านึกแห่งความเป็นไทย

The Far Eastern University: Gateway to Entrepreneurship

The Far Eastern University was first established as "Far Eastern College" on December 27, 1999 with permission from the Commission on Higher Education (formerly the Ministery of University Affairs) and officially opened on February 4, 2000. Her Royal Highness Princess Kalyaniwattana presided over the official opening of the university on November 13, 2001.

Because of its strong ambition and continuous emphasis on education, the university was granted the title "The Far Eastern University" on April 20, 2006 and a declaration ceremony was held on May 8, 2006.

While complying with Thai government policy on education, The Far Eastern University aims to arm its students with the knowledge and abilities needed to compete in the globalizing world. The Far Eastern University also puts its utmost effort in training its students in the most cutting edge technology while also equipping them with international business skills and a spirit of entrepreneurship. The Far Eastern University has set its ambition to provide its graduates with a competitive advantage in their personal and professional lives by instilling morals, ethics, and an international awareness of being Thai in our globalized world.
